CAUTION to Host Andrew Boucher
CAUTION, the organizational arm of the Charlotte Tea Party, will host Andrew Boucher on Monday, April 1st, at 6:00pm at the Dilworth Neighborhood Grille located at 911 East Morehead Street in Charlotte.
Andrew Boucher is the president of Boucher Strategies, a strategic and political consulting firm based in Charleston. He serves as executive director of The Monday Meeting, the national meeting of the center-right coalition held monthly in New York.
In 2012 Boucher served as National Political Director for Rick Santorum’s campaign for President. He is a former executive director of the New Hampshire Republican State Committee and has consulted on and managed campaigns for local, state and federal office in Colorado, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Missouri, Ohio, New York and Massachusetts.
Up for Discussion:
In the middle of September 2004, Andrew Boucher was in Colorado, consulting on the highly-targeted State Senate campaign of Fort Collins mayor Ray Martinez. An ad came on the radio with the message: “Ray Likes to Travel.” The theme: As mayor, Ray Martinez spent taxpayer dollars on lavish trips. The tag to the radio ad referred to a new website: “RayLikesToTravel.com” That afternoon, the mailbox had the first of dozens of mailers touting the attack website.
This was the first anyone had heard of “The Blueprint” or “The Colorado Model.” Forensic accounting revealed that coordinated groups had spent an astounding $1.7 million against Ray Martinez – ten times the “high-spending” previous years.
In August of 2004, Ray Martinez was at 68% in the polls. In November, he received 42% of the vote.
Now North Carolina is in the crosshairs, and Republicans – even nine years later – still don’t fully understand the Democrats’ successful Colorado blueprint.
More ominously, our tactics – at every level – have gotten worse.
If you care about 2014 and beyond, you need to hear what’s coming your way…
Be afraid. Be prepared.
