Radical Islam: The Question We’re All Asking
With Representative King’s hearings completed in the House of Representatives on Islam’s ties to terrorism, and with the ousting of President Mubarek in Egypt and news that the Muslim Brotherhood, the oldest radical Muslim terrorist group in existence, is participating in designing the future government of Egypt, many Americans are again asking the question to which we all want the answer: Is Islam a religion that teaches terrorism and hence we’re seeing those who commit these acts of terror simply complying with the religion, or are the acts of terror committed by Muslims around the world highly uncommon occurrences by a few deranged lunatics?
To properly understand Islam and the teachings of the Koran, one must look back in history to the founding of the Islam “religion” by the “prophet” Mohammed in roughly 610 A.D. when he began to receive the revelations from Allah that would become the Islam religion as laid down in the Koran.
Perhaps no one has written more extensively on the history of Islam and its application to terrorism today than Brigitte Gabriel, who lived through the takeover and occupation of Lebanon by Islamists and who has written bestsellers “Because They Hate” and “They Must Be Stopped.” Ms. Gabriel, in “They Must Be Stopped,” quickly identifies the uniqueness of Islam by stating that, “…what makes
Islam different from other religions is its call to kill and subjugate all other members of other faiths. The terrorists of today as well as imams in mosques throughout the world are calling for the death of millions of people around the world in the name of Islam.”1
The history of Mohammed’s life is a history of war against Christians and Jews throughout Arabia due to the fact that they did not accept him or his religion. Allah provided this revelation:
“And the Jews will not be pleased with you…nor the Christian until you follow their religion. Say” Surely Allah’s guidance, that is the (true) guidance. And if you follow their desires after the knowledge that has come to you, you shave have no guardian from Allah, nor any help.”2 (Koran2:120)
Mohammed led many battles against Jews and Christians where many men were killed and women and children were made slaves:
“Some ye slew, and ye made captive some. And He caused you to inherit their land and their houses and their wealth, and land ye have not trodden…”3 (Koran 33:26-27)
By 631, Mohammed and his believers had conquered all of the desert tribes of Arabia with this type of direction from the Koran: “When the forbidden months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive) and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush…” 4 (Koran 9:5) “Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war.”5 (Koran 9:5)
“So fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief(non-Muslims)) and all submit to the religion of Allah alone (in the whole world).”6 (Koran 8:30)
Perhaps no passage in the Koran more succinctly states the teachings of the Prophet Mohammed to his followers than this:
“When you clash with the unbelieving Infidels in battle, smite their necks until you overpower them, killing and wounding many of them. At length, when you have thoroughly subdued them, bind them firmly, making (them) captives. Thereafter either generosity or ransom (them based upon what benefits Islam) until the war lays down its burden. Thus are you commanded by Allah to continue carrying out Jihad against the unbelieving infidels until they submit to Islam.”7 (Koran 47:4)
By 750, the followers of Islam had conquered India and Central China as well, and ruled more land than the Roman Empire. Thousands of Christians and Jews lived as servants and slaves paying Islamic taxes in their position as second-class citizens. Beginning in 1099 for the next 300 years, Christian Crusades were launched from Europe in an attempt to liberate captured lands, but to no avail. The coming Industrial Revolution finally gave the West the economic power to subdue Islam. 8
This past history of Islam is necessary to understand the present. As Ms. Gabriel points out, today in Mosques all over the world including in the United States, mullahs continue to encourage followers of Islam to wage war against the infidels and non believers. The Muslim Brotherhood has detailed a comprehensive plan for radical Islam to take over the world. This document, called “The Project” was discovered in a Swiss villa in 2001, just a few months after September 11th.
Americans would be wise to study “They Must Be Stopped” in depth to learn all we can about Islam and the dangers it poses to our future freedom. In many ways, radical Islam has replaced Communism as the greatest threat our generation faces.
