SC Sheriff Calls for Women to Arm Themselves

South Carolina Sherriff Chuck Wright has made headlines this week after encouraging women to arm themselves with Firearms. This all came about after Wright was upset at how a rape case had been handled. He said, “I can tell you that our form of justice is not making it. This fellow that has been charged numerous times for crimes against women and crimes in society … he’s been in jail more times than I have, and I’m the dad-blame [guy] over at the jail, and he seems to get out quicker than I can get out. I am aggravated.”

During a news conference Wright listed the alleged rapist, Walter Lance’s, past criminal record, which included assault, domestic violence, and battery with the intent to kill. After giving a detailed description of Lance’s past, Wright ended by saying, “Now if anybody sitting in this room had been charged with any of that stuff, they’d probably be finding a tall oak tree and a short rope for us.”

Because cities are filled with people like Walter Lance, Wright encourages all women to have the ability to protect themselves. He said, “Don’t get Mace. Get a firearm.” Wright told women that they could carry their firearms in their bags. “You can conceal a small pistol in them,” he said. “They got one called The Judge that shoots a .45 or a .410 shell. You ain’t got to be accurate. You just have to get close.”

As imagined, Wright has received much negative feedback from opposing views.  “I’ve had liberals call me and tell me, ‘The chain gang is not going to work.’ Well, let me inform you that your form of justice isn’t working either,” Wright said. When asked about the  Government proposed gun-control, Wright replied, “Gun control is when you can get your barrel back on the target quick.”

Although Wright has received criticism from the Left, Conservatives have embraced him with gratitude and respect.
