Time To Celebrate Freedom In Charlotte

With the conventions of both parties passing into history and with the candidates resuming their campaigns, this weekend presents the perfect opportunity for Charlotte area resident to celebrate our most cherished American value….freedom. Constitution Day Charlotte 2012, scheduled for this Saturday, September 15th in uptown, will be a celebration of the signing of the United States Constitution by the delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in 1787.

The defining result of the government outlined by the delegates was that citizens of the United States would be unhindered, for the most part, by a controlling central authority except for matters that involved disputes between the states, and the protection and preservation of the country. In all matters, citizens would either choose directly or indirectly the legislators and executives who would pass the federal laws under which the citizens would live. In a word, the guiding principle in the original “plan” was to preserve the most possible freedom for the citizenry while securing a nation out of independent states.

And so the Constitution of the United States became the design for the national government of our country and with God’s Grace, America flourished and became the greatest country in the world…with freedom for its citizens to follow their dreams to start businesses, to worship as they chose, to live where they wished, and to be secure in their homes.

Constitution Day Charlotte 2012 will celebrate the design process of the Constitutional Convention with a trip back in time to learn about the discussions and debates of the delegates, our founding fathers, on important matters of the day. The very design of the debate, with most of the convention being conducted by a “committee of the whole” was critical so that every delegate would have a voice and debate on any issue was never permanently closed.

The event will feature speakers on other important issues…America’s other “Charters of Freedom”…The Declaration of Independence and the Articles of Confederation…how the states defended freedom in local battles like Cowpens and Kings Mountain and how America has answered the call to defend freedom around the world saving hundreds of millions from tyrants at the cost of the lives of our sons and daughters. We’ll hear speakers on today’s risks of losing freedom to a crushing national debt…on the differences between today’s American freedom fighters versus our revolutionary kin…and we’ll hear touching stories of freedom lost and regained and more.

Constitution Day Charlotte 2012 will be held at 600 East Trade Street, on the lawn, in uptown Charlotte on Saturday, September 15th, 2012 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Search the event on Facebook for more information(!/events/244915238946813/).
