Paul Up In Kentucky

By 8 points according to the latest from Rasmussen Reports. Republican Rand Paul, a Tea Party favorite, is outpacing Democrat Jack Conway, the state’s attorney general, 49% to 41%, a margin that’s held pretty consistent over the last three polling cycles. Paul is also racking up a 3-1 lead with unaffiliated voters.

Captain America-ish

Leave it to Hollywood to find a way to neuter an American superhero, in pursuit of a more multi-cultural, one-world friendly, kind of super, but not in a potentially offensive way, hero. That’s the direction a new movie based on the comic book hero Captain America, slated for release next summer, is reportedly headed. This […]

Oxymoron Of The Day

A report today on NPR noted that South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham “bucked his party” by voting in favor of the nomination of SCOTUS nominee Elena Kagan. His party? Republican Lindsey Graham has become the ultimate oxymoron, based on recent precedents. Add this one to the list: Graham was the only GOP member of the […]

Promises Made To Be Broken

In the run-up to passing the new national healthcare law, the Obama Administration consistently tossed around assurances that no federal dollars would be used to fund abortions and promises that the same law wouldn’t restrict or limit your choice of doctor. So much for assurances and promises. CNSNews reports that Maryland is set to join […]

The Tea Party and Race Relations

You know you’re really making an impact on local and national politics when you begin to be noticed and perhaps targeted by politicians like John Lewis, by organizations like the NAACP, and by liberal journalists like E.J. Dionne.  And so members of the Tea Party find themselves in just such company with accusations by Mr. […]

Yearning For The Brink

Based on America’s economy today versus where it was 18 months ago, before Obama “brought it back from the brink” – I prefer the “brink.” Now that we can actually measure the results of Obama’s economic policies, it seems perfectly clear that America has been on the wrong track and is far worse off today. […]

Racial Quotas and Financial Reform

What does racial diversity have to do with financial reform? Plenty, according to this article from Real Clear Markets, which dissects a largely ignored, but major piece of the proposed federal financial regulation bill: In addition to this bill’s well-publicized plans to establish over a dozen new financial regulatory offices, Section 342 sets up at […]

Chinese Meditation For Cocaine Addicts

And guess who’s paying for it. In case there wasn’t enough evidence that the federal government has completely gone off the rails of fiscal sanity, let’s toss spending nearly a half-million dollars to study the effects of teaching Chinese meditation to cocaine addicts into the mix. The National Institute on Drug Abuse, a division of […]

Bad Week For BO

First a federal appeals court slapped down the Obama’s Administration misguided attempt to enforce a six-month moratorium on deepwater drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, then King James snubbed Obama’s old Chicago stomping grounds in favor of South Beach and the Heat. Telling reactions to both developments: In LeBron James’ case, Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert […]

Feds Target Arizona Law

The Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit that seeks to sink the State of Arizona’s new illegal immigration law, which is slated to take effect later this month. The Feds claim the state law “is preempted by federal law and therefore violates the Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution.” Ironic but wholly fitting […]
