Stories written by Jason OesterreichIn 2005, Jason & Tanya Oesterreich moved to North Carolina seeking a more Christian faith-based community for their family. Jason served on the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners from August 19, 2013 until December 1, 2014. He is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1999 and received his juris doctor degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 2002. Jason is involved in our community and church, volunteering at First Baptist Church of Concord as a deacon, chairman of the finance committee and substitute Sunday school teacher. He also enjoys working each week with students in the third and fourth grades as an AWANA leader. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, church softball and hiking with his family. Oesterreich credits his life experiences for giving him a unique ability to relate to people of all different circumstances. He worked two jobs through college to pay for his education and took out loans to pay for law school. To Oesterreich, these experiences taught far more than his formal education. Initially Jason practiced commercial real estate transactional law in Charlotte but with his wife practicing estate planning at a large firm in Charlotte the family made the decision for him to stay home with his young son and daughter at the beginning in 2013.
