John Aneralla Announces Run for Huntersville Mayor

|

anerallaIn a perfectly timed email following the Huntersville Town Commission meeting on Monday during which the current Mayor and other elected officials lambasted citizens with inaccurate accusations over anti-HOT lane activism, Huntersville businessman and former Chairman of the Mecklenburg Republican Party announced his run for Huntersville Mayor, a race that will be decided in the fall.

The following is his announcement:

This morning Huntersville small businessman and community leader John Aneralla announced his candidacy for Mayor of Huntersville.

“It’s time for new, professional leadership for Huntersville,” Aneralla said upon announcing his candidacy. “Our tax rate is 25% higher than the Town of Cornelius and we’re getting less in return. The people of Huntersville deserve a town government that is responsive to their needs, fiscally responsible, efficient and effective. Our citizens simply deserve better. Under my leadership, the mayor and our town commission will work together to tackle the many challenges we face as we continue to grow. We will focus on solutions to issues such as transportation that don’t further burden our citizens but instead improve life in our town.”

Aneralla is a proven businessman with over 28 years of experience in the financial services industry. He is the owner and founder of an investment advisory firm based in Huntersville and he has consulted with companies in a broad range of industries including aerospace, manufacturing, and medical technology. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Local Government Employees’ Retirement System and the Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System. He additionally serves on the Investment Advisory Committee for the North Carolina pension system.

“I’m ready to put my business experience to work for the Town of Huntersville,” Aneralla continued. “I love this community. It’s my home. My top priority as Mayor will be establishing a vision and a plan for the Town of Huntersville that enhances the quality of life in our community and creates a unique identity for the town. The Town of Huntersville has an amazing history dating back to the early days of the Revolutionary War and together we can create a future that is just as bright as our past.”

A proven community leader, Aneralla has served as president of the Lake Norman Kiwanis Club, Lieutenant Governor in the Carolinas Region of Kiwanis International, President North Meck Soccer Club (now Carolina Rapids), Sunday school teacher and past volunteer coach for numerous swimming, soccer and basketball teams in the area. He currently coaches the middle school swim team for the Community School of Davidson and is a member of the SwimMAC Capital Campaign.

Aneralla also noted that he has been consistently against the I-77 toll road plan since first learning of the proposal in 2010. As Mayor, Aneralla will continue to support efforts to put a halt to the toll road and if the toll road is implemented he will push to limit the negative effects it will have on the citizens of Huntersville.

Aneralla and Nancy, his wife of 26 years, have been residents of Huntersville for the last 18 years. Their daughter Amanda is a recent graduate of North Carolina State University and their son Bennett just completed his first year at the United States Coast Guard Academy. The Anerallas are members of Davidson United Methodist Church.
