Stories written by Mark Pellin
An award-winning journalist and former editor of The Rhinoceros Times in Charlotte, Pellin has been called everything from a misguided troglodyte to a professional agitator. He prefers the label of a realist, the guy in the crowd telling everybody that not only doesn’t the emperor have any clothes; he’s trying to steal ours. Pellin has covered the Char-Meck scene for the better part of two decades, earning his fair share of fans and more than a few critics who wish he’d move to Nome, Alaska, and be eaten by wild bears. When he’s not writing, he stays busy enjoying time with his wife and two kids. When he can break away for some R&R, he likes to fly fish (even if he doesn’t catch anything) and camp (even if it rains).

Union Civility And The Right To Work

It’s right there, at the end of a fist and on the soles of heavy boots trampling a tent filled with people. Thus unfolds the latest mob scene of union-sponsored civility, this time in Michigan where in response to newly approved RTW legislation, union thugs stormed an Americans For Prosperity tent and assaulted Fox News […]

NCGOP Eyes Vote On Obamacare Bribe Money

The road to setting up an Obamacare health exchange in North Carolina could be headed for a new twist this weekend, when a resolution is likely to be offered at Saturday’s NCGOP State Executive Committee meeting calling for Pat McCrory, Thom Tillis and Phil Berger to return the $73.5 million in federal money accepted by […]

The Mecklenburglars

Al Capone and John Gotti could have learned a thing or two from Mecklenburg County officials. The two mob bosses clocked hard time for running organized criminal enterprises that reaped millions of dollars through theft, extortion and racketeering; county officials in Mecklenburg get off with a slap on the wrist and another chance behind the […]

Queen City Taxis Tap A Gross Charge

Is ‘hack’ still an acceptable moniker for taxicab drivers, or am I hopelessly behind the PC curve? In any event, you know you have a tough job when it involves cleaning up the bodily fluids of your customers. At least in Charlotte, taxicab drivers will soon be able to reap a little extra compensation for […]

The Right To Bear Arms And Feet

How long before we hear the rallying cry that, “you can have my shoes when you pry them from my cold dead feet?” I ask because apparently feet, not to mention hands, are more lethal than guns. This from the Daily Caller, which relates results from the FBI’s 2007-2011 “Murder Victims by Weapon” report: The […]

Gov Bev: Political Hack To The Bitter End

From the Department of How Convenient, we learn that state Supreme Court Justice Patricia Timmons-Goodson, a liberal who was originally backed by former governor and Democrat corruption king crony Mike Easley, is retiring from the bench before Gov. Bev Perdue slithers out of office in January. Under an executive order that Perdue decreed last year, […]

Speaking Of Black Friday…

Swayed by a strong dose of, um, holiday spirits, I lost control of my mental faculties last week and was compelled to check in on the pre-Black Friday sale fight club at the Target in Blakeney. Never got into the store, and barely made it into the parking lot, which was swamped with barricades, cop cars, […]

The Madness Of A Lost Society

Via the SGT Report: Another ‘Black Friday’ has come and gone. And it has left us with further evidence of the complete madness of the populace of our nation. America has been dealt a fatal blow by corporate greed, Bankster malfeasance and the insidious nature of collectivism – and it’s all been done to us […]
