Rhodes Calls for Tillis to Step Down Pending Investigation
Former Representative John Rhodes stepped back into the political fray today at a press conference he called in Cornelius, NC. Among his talking points he called for a formal investigation into the “pay for play” politics regarding Speaker Tillis’ appointments to the UNC Board of Governors.
“Tomorrow, I will send a request to the State Board of Elections to fully investigate the matter and the state’s Attorney General to determine if any ethical lapses have occurred or laws have been broken. I will additionally send a complaint to the Legislative Ethics committee to fully investigate the matter concerning the appointments to the UNC Board of Governors in relation to campaign contributions and other legislation channeled through the House of Representatives” said Rhodes. “If you are a member of the legislature and you see wrong doing by legislative leaders, you have the obligation to speak out about it regardless of whether your supposed leadership likes it or not. If they don’t like it, you tell them to take a hike! Remind them you serve your constituents, the people first.”
