NAACP Using Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals

|

The strategy of the NAACP to tag Tea Party organizations as racist is straight from Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals. From page 130, 3rd paragraph:  Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.

Q. Why are Tea Party organizations being targeted?
A. They are the most prominent opposition to the progressive liberal agenda.

Q.  What is meant by freezing the target?
A.  Tag the target so it can’t shift responsibility to another entity.  Tea Parties can’t shed charges of racism like a President may be able to pass the blame for tax increases to a deficit committee.      Q.  How has the Tea Party been personalized by the charge of racism?
A.  All of us have had direct or indirect negative experiences with racism, which makes racism an issue to which each of us can relate.

Q.  How are the Tea Parties polarized?
A.  Racism is as polar a tag as one can place on a target.  A blemish of racism within the ranks of a group can be massaged to the perception of devout racism in the minds of its victims.

Two examples frequently cited by the NAACP to illustrate the racism of Tea Parties have nothing to do with race.  One is a sign picturing Barack Obama next to Adolph Hitler and Joseph Stalin.  The other is a sign where Barack Obama is depicted as the Joker of Batman fame.  Either of these signs may be objectionable to Barack Obama supporters; but they are critical of his policies, not his race.  I believe these examples were tagged as racist because the mere mention of racism often triggers blinding rage in many constituents of the NAACP.   From page 128, 3rd paragraph of Rules for Radicals: Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.  It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule.

I have attended many functions in the Charlotte area and several in Washington DC that were sponsored by organizations of “Tea Party” designation.  While most of the attendees were Caucasian, I saw people of many ethnic groups including black participants at every event.  Many of the guest speakers I heard at these events were black.   I NEVER ONCE SAW A BLACK PERSON BEING INTIMIDATED OR TREATED WITH DISRESPECT!  I was also in very close proximity to where racial slurs were reportedly hurled at members of Congress during the healthcare demonstration in Washington DC.  I heard no such slurs, and I think the $100,000 reward for proof of these accusations remains uncollected.  Can the NAACP explain how charges of racism squares with the fact many black candidates across the country have found favor with Tea Party organizations?  From page 26, 1st paragraph:  The most unethical of all means is the nonuse of any means.

It is very sad the once reputable NAACP has resorted to adolescent tactics to deflect criticism from the real issue: the overreaching agenda of the Obama Administration.  The more adult approach would be to debate or defend their positions.  The Keynesian Theory of Economics, deficit spending to stimulate the economy, is what the Obama Administration claims will turn our economy around.  The major problem with Keynesian Economics is it only works in economic models that have proven to be flawed.  In practice Keynesian Theory has resulted in devastation whenever it has been tried, as in The Great Depression, Japan’s Lost Decade and recently Greece?  This brings up two other Saul Alinsky principals the NAACP is following by focusing on racism.  From page 117, 1st paragraph:  An organizer must stir up dissatisfaction and discontent; provide a channel into which the people can angrily pour their frustrations. From page 138, 3rd paragraph:  Go outside the experience of your enemy, stay inside the experience of your people.

Unfortunately racism is big business that is often perpetuated for the benefit of its perpetuators.  I recommend careful examination of the Saul Alinsky legacy.  In the 1960’s he organized the black neighborhoods of South Chicago, Detroit, Oakland and Kansas City.  Are the residents in these neighborhoods better off today, or do they represent growing numbers of dependants to justify the need for bloated social bureaucracies and more government spending?

Let’s don’t relive the racial tensions of the 1950’s and 60’s.  I’ve been there and don’t want to repeat it.  Let’s move forward with hope and change that enhances the values that made America exceptional, not divisive name-calling and destructive economics.
