Of Aliens and Politics
Credit given where credit due.
I’ve been involved in political campaigns in some form or fashion on a yearly basis for nearly half of my life. The pushcards, the mailers, the commercials…well, they all seem to blend together after awhile.
That’s not to offend any well intentioned politician or consultant out there, but after awhile there are only so many ways to say that candidate X is perfect and candidate Y is the Anti-Christ.
Every now and again, someone comes along with something a little bit different, a little bit eye opening, and a little bit so off the beaten path that you never see it coming.
The SC GOP has delivered.
I’ve received a good number of mailers from the SC GOP Victory 2010 campaign over the past couple of weeks on behalf of Mick Mulvaney for Congress. The Party is playing its traditional role of dishing out the dirt on Mulvaney’s opposition, allowing the candidate to remain free and clear from the evils of the “politics of personal destruction”.
This one takes the cake.
Kudos to the conceptual artist behind this mailer. It takes a little creativity to remain memorable, and you nailed it. Some may consider this a little hokey, but that’s OK. I guarantee you’ll remember it, and that is, after all, the point.

(In case you can’t read it, the bottom corner says, “E.T. Says… Time to go home!”)
