Holding Politicians Accountable: Campaign For Liberty Candidate Survey

|

Several weeks ago, all candidates for the U.S. House and Senate in North Carolina were mailed and urged to complete Campaign for Liberty’s 2010 Federal Survey.

This survey asked questions to find out what each candidate believes about the issues that are important to constitutional government and liberty.

The survey and candidate responses – or in some cases, their telling lack of response – is available by clicking here.

Where do your candidates stand on the economy? Do they support a roll call vote on a full audit of the Federal Reserve? Do they support legislation removing capital gains and sales taxes on gold and silver coinage? Do they support a balanced budget amendment, and will they fight Cap & Trade?

What about civil liberties? Will your candidates fight to protect the 2nd Amendment? What about the 4th, and the 10th? Do they support roving wiretaps and warrantless searches, or will they push to repeal the PATRIOT Act?

Find out where your candidates stand on foreign policy? Will they vow to support legislation forbidding U.S. troops from serving under foreign commanders? Will they oppose occupying foreign nations without a declaration of war, as required by the U.S. Constitution? Will they place U.S. sovereignty before U.N. priorities?

Will your candidates push to eliminate the IRS, and acknowledge your right to keep what you earn?

Find out here. The Campaign for Liberty Federal Candidate Survey asks all these questions and more, not only to give you, the citizen, a clear idea of what’s at stake in this election, but also to hold candidates and politicians accountable in the future. By going on the record with us now, candidates help us hold their feet to the fire should they get elected. If they take a stand for liberty and freedom on our survey but sell out to special interests later on, we can hold this survey up and say, “You lied to us!  And we know how to replace liars!”

Unfortunately, not all of the candidates we contacted chose to go on the record with us and state their positions on these important issues. We at Campaign for Liberty consider a refusal to go on the record to be its own kind of response.

Please take a moment to review the results of our survey.  We hope it helps you in your Election Day decision-making.
