James Is The Man
Let me tell you a story. Way back in November of 1996 Bill James was first elected to the Mecklenburg County Board of County Commissioners. During the election, unbelievalbe as it may seem, he had run as an unabashed social/fiscal conservative. He was the first Tea Partier ever elected to anything in Mecklenburg County.
At the time he was a project manager for Price Waterhouse, had four small children, and a serious, chronic, health problem. The day after he won his election he was fired from his job.
He successfully sued Price Waterhouse for wrongful termination. Seems one of PW’s major clients had told them to get rid of Bill or they would take their business elsewhere. At the time Nationsbank ( later Bank of America) was PW’s largest client. Local patron saint, Lord Hugh McCall was CEO. Folks, don’t let anybody kid you; The Ruling Class Elite in Charlotte, North Carolina, play rough, very rough, and like all tyrants they wanted to nip any opposition in the bud.
Didn’t work with this guy. He actually had the effrontery to oppose them at every turn. Shortly after he took office The Arts and Science Council decided to fund a now defunct theatre company which was intending to produce the excreable, anti-Republican, anti-Reagan, piece of pro-homosexual propoganda with full male frontal nudity thrown in as dessert – ” Angels in America”.
Of course the Arts and Sciences Council was funded with taxpayer dollars provided by the BOCC. Of course there was a huge public outcry demanding the A and C cut off the theatre company. Of course the Ruling Class Elitists on the A and C refused.
At the time there were actually three real Republicans on the BOCC ( hard to imagine but I promise it’s true), with one RINO, and a Democrat who actually had enough character to oppose the RCE oppression. They all voted to defund the Arts and Science Council.
As you might imagine this did not sit well with Lord McCall, Parks Helms, and the rest of their delightful RCE crew. I won’t bore you with the details, but after the 1999 election, James was the only one of the five left on the board, and that lovely man, the estimable Parks Helms, restored the A and C funding. He even gave them a raise for the trauma they had suffered.
Since then Bill has stuck to his guns. He’s been involved in more dustup’s with the RCE’s than I can recall. The three most memorable are fairly recent involving the plight of black children in this community, illegal immigrants and homosexuals, the three groups RCE’s covet over any other.
He has correctly pointed out that most black children in this community live in moral squalor, that illegal’s are criminals and should be deported, and that homosexuals are disproportionately child molesters. Despite the overwhelming empirical evidence proving his claims the RCE’s cruficy him as bigot and homophobe.
Rather than defend him, the cowardly RCE leadership of the Republcian Party in Mecklenburg County has unsuccessfull recruited several people to run against him. Judas has nothing on these folks.
The truth is Bill James is a great man. He has the great courage and integrity to stand alone against the world because he is a patriot and a Christian. He inspires me.
