GOP vs. CRVA: AWOL As Per Usual
So the CRVA boss, Tim Newman, has been discovered – by of all news gathering organizations The Charlotte Observer – providing “gifts” to his employees on behalf of the CIAA Tournament. The largest gratuity involved one of the CRVA’s female employees, who apparently captured the fancy of one of the male CIAA honchos, who then very generously provided Newman $100,000 of CIAA money to tip her.
Now this type of generosity in criminal justice parlance is commonly referred to as “money laundering.” Granted, this is Charlotte, NC, and a team player doesn’t use that type of hateful language when discussing the activities of the wonderful Ruling Class Elite who control this community.
But alas, I’ve never been a TP on the Ruling Class Elite Team, so I think I’ll just go ahead and write about this felony in blunt, black and white terms. Despite the fact Newman actually withheld taxes on the $100,000 kickback before the female employee got her hot little mitts on the cash (a truly touching gesture on this part), the transaction is still illegal under both state and federal law.
The CIAA is a 501 (c) (3) organization, i.e. a non-profit headquartered in the District of Columbia doing annual business with Charlotte and Mecklenburg County. Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, and the state of North Carolina, are paying at least a combined $560k annual bribe to the CIAA to get them to hold their annual basketball tournament at the Time Warner Arena.
The city is kicking at least $200k into the pot (I write “at least” because that is all they’ve admitted to giving the CIAA. Based on personal history dealing with these people you may very well be paying much, much, more). The CRVA lobbies the city, county, and state to obtain the bribe to give to the CIAA.
Is it possible that certain CRVA employees had a kickback deal in place with the CIAA when these monies were obtained from the various governments? (this is a rhetorical question) After all, Charlotte was able to deliver a much greater bribe to the CIAA than the cities who had “hosted” the tournament previously.
Is it possible the CRVA female employee has an improper personal relationship with the CIAA official? Is it possible the CRVA female employee is blackmailing the CIAA official about a possible improper relationship? Is it possible the real situation is a combination of all these scenarios? Did Newman speak to City Manager Curt Walton or City Attorney Mac McCarley before he shelled out the $100k to his employee? After all, taxes were withheld on the kickback.
The permutations and combinations are endless, and are great fodder for a Jackie Collin’s novel. Meanwhile, here on planet Earth, the law has been shredded yet again and the people we have elected to protect us from this illegal behavior are, as per usual, where they always are, quaking under their beds.
I’m referring of course to those three noted, City Council lollipops, Peacock, Dulin, and Cooksey. Ruling Class Elitist to a man (or boy in this case), they can always be counted on by the uptown power elite to keep their mouths shut and do as they’re told, no matter how egregious the situation may be.
The CO has broken ranks on this one. Normally they set the RCE agenda but I suppose Newman upset them about something – he claims to be an evangelical Christian – which is certainly enough to get yourself in the CO doghouse, plus he makes a ton of cash (over $300k! which translates into a bunch of envy around the newsroom) which the CO mentions in every article they write about him. I think I may be on to something here …
Anyway, the three alleged GOP Councilpersons ain’t gonna do jack about this fiasco. I spoke to an attorney in our local DA’s office and he told me the SBI can investigate but they’re prohibited by state law from convening a grand jury to investigate the matter.
There is one very large ray of hope. Since the CIAA is headquartered in DC, it’s possible the federal government just might investigate. The Feds can convene a grand jury, call witnesses and compel them under oath to give testimony. After personally watching about 200 episodes of “Law and Order”, I am pretty doggone sure the crack attorney’s that work for the local office of the DOJ could get to the bottom of this affair pronto.
As an abused taxpayer of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, and the USA, I think I have standing in this situation, as my money has been used for what I’m very sure are nefarious purposes by an employee of the city of Charlotte, so I have registered my concerns with the local office of the FBI (704-377-9200). I urge you to do the same.
Let’s face it folks: we live in a 21st century equivalent of a mill town. A handful of extremely wealthy, connected plutocrats control this community lock, stock, and barrel. If you want to let them steal your hard earned money and do as they please because they allow you a roof over your head and three squares a day, please realize you have traded your humanity for slavery. What a pity that would be.
