Cooksey’s Red Herring

|

You’ve got to hand it to Warren Cooksey, RINO Elitist extraordinaire. The man is creative. At the August 15, 2011 meeting held by CAUTION (local Tea Party group) Warren trolled for votes. He talked to those assembled about why he should be returned, yet again, to City Council from District 7.

He averred that he did his homework and was tight with our money when the nefarious Democrats wanted to spend it foolishly. Yada, yada, yada…. Later those present were allowed to speak. I gave Warren’s opponent, Jay Privette, a campaign contribution and urged everyone to support him is his bid to unseat Cooksey.

I stated that Warren had refused to try and eliminate the taxpayer funded abortion benefit provided to city employees through the city healthcare plan after I had asked him repeatedly to do so. Taxpayer funded abortion is a sine qua non of the Republican Party. If an elected politician claims to be a member of the GOP and allows taxpayer funded abortion to exist unopposed, Republicans have no other alternative than to remove that person from office.

To his credit, Cooksey uncharacteristically summoned up the gumption to attempt to excuse his malfeasance. He actually had the temerity to say that if he and his pseudo GOP colleagues on City Council, Edwin Peacock and Andy Dulin, tried to remove the abortion benefit from the city healthcare plan the nasty Democrats would not only maintain the policy, but get this – punish the impertinent Republicans by adding “Domestic Partner Benefits” to the city employee benefits package.

Warren is just intelligent enough to have the deviousness to employ the immortal “red herring”, the smoke screen – “Domestic Partner Benefits” in this case, to disguise his duplicity. You see, Cooksey had been in this game for a very long time.

He plugged himself into the Ruling Class Elite power structure years ago. He is their handmaiden. Cooksey’s resume has all the proper ingredients: Davidson grad, Planning Commission Board Member, Board Member – eventually Chairman of the CVRA.

You have to kiss some serious backside to position yourself this politically correctly in this community, and Warren is one of the most exquisite practitioners of this ancient art I’ve ever seen. Considering he performs his craft in Charlotte this is indeed a truly astonishing statement.

His first forays into elective office were unsuccessful. My memory is hazy, but it seems he ran for City Council at-large a couple of times and was beaten. Fortuitously for Cooksey, Don Lochman retired from his District 7 seat in 2008. Warren, in true carpetbagger fashion, moved into the district and scooped up the seat.

His sleight-of-hand on the city health plan abortion benefit is entirely predictable. Cooksey’s only political objective is to remain in office.

Warren has but one campaign strategy – get the Charlotte Observer endorsement in his primary against Privette. This will not happen if he opposes the city health plan abortion benefit, thus he was forced to employ the “Domestic Partner Benefit” rabbit he pulled out of his hat at the CAUTION meeting to placate some Republicans who actually believe in the principles the party supposedly espouses.

Cooksey actually has the gall to have you believe that  if he, Dulin, and Peacock will just play nice and let babies be slaughtered with property tax revenues, the Democrats will be appeased, and in turn not use property tax revenues to fund homosexual sexual arrangements.

Warren is just playing us. He knows full well the  Democrats, as always, are doing everything than can to further the homosexual agenda.  Democrat Councilmember Warren Turner in District 3 has not toed the party line sufficiently, and since the Democrats employ something alien to local Republicans, party discipline, Turner is in the process of being fired from his job.

The Dems are running one LaWana Mayfield against him. Ms. Mayfield is a self-professed lesbian and looks to be a major player in the local GLBT power structure. My guess is Mayfield will be able to raise as much cash as she needs to beat Turner. She will certainly get the CO endorsement and I would be amazed if she loses the primary. Wonder what her first move on the new City Council will be if she wins in the general election in November?????

On August 27, at the annual Gay Pride Festival held in Uptown Charlotte, Mayor Foxx addressed the adoring throng. Now Anthony is married to a female and they have children, so one can assume he wasn’t at the festival for priapic purposes. Most likely he was doing exactly what Jennifer Roberts did when she spoke to the LGBT crowd at the same event last year: Letting them know “Domestic Partner Benefits” were on the way.

Roberts got the policy implemented for county employees last year. Now its Foxx’s turn for the city, and trust me, unlike the local GOP, the Democrats love to produce for their constituents. He will not be in the least bit afraid to pull the trigger, especially with the first openly homosexual City Council member in the history of Charlotte voting with the Democrat majority to implement the policy to the ecstatic glee of the CO Editorial Board.

Taxpayer funded abortion and “Domestic Partner Benefits” implemented, without a peep out of the people we have elected to make sure those two government policies were never established by the city.

I’ve written it before, I’ll write it again: Cooksey, Dulin, Peacock, Stone, McCrory, Morgan, Myrick, Lennon, et al are users. They could care less about the principles the GOP is founded upon, much less the people of this community.

These political hacks have absolutely no intention of ever governing as Republicans. They claim to be members of the GOP because doing so is the easiest path to political office, which is their raison d’etre. Unfortunately, if you are truly a Republican, to support the local GOP as it is currently constituted is to be a masochist, which I for one simply refuse to be. If you are a local Republican, you really should join me.
