Electing a President
I couldn’t sleep last night and started to think about the Jim DeMint forum today with the presidential hopefuls and how will I select MY candidate for president.
The list of 14 reasons floating around the internet about why Governor Perry would make a bad president kept running through my head – YES, I would VERY much like to see him address these issues. Many of these ARE issues I don’t agree with his stance on, BUT, when I compare them to the list of 10 to 15 things Perry has done right as Governor, I’m OK with Governor Perry as president or for that matter ANY of the Republican candidates – especially when you think of two things:
1) Obama’s list of 10 – 15 things he has done right (hard for me to get to 10, yet alone 15 and I’ll leave that list for the Democrats). Add to that the list of 15 things he has done wrong – I blow right by 10 with Obama apologizing for America; trashing interstate law and shoving Obamacare down our collective throats; redistribution of wealth; dismantling corporate law with the GM bailout and the bank regulation act; power grab with use of executive orders and czars; wanting to try terrorists in civilian court; having a justice department that doesn’t want to pursue charges of voter intimidation; condemnation of TEA party patriots and not listening to the American people; and insulting our friends and catering to our enemies – seem like Joe had it right!.
The second item that makes me OK with ANY republican president is their implied respect for the separation of powers contained in the constitution and that we (yes we, the American People) can and will be able to rely on the other branches of government to keep their lust for power in check. Just make sure you apply a list and take time to understand where your candidates for Senator and Congressman stand on the issues that are important to YOU.
