Great Budget Night At City Council
We have to share our experience at Charlotte City Council Monday night, so here goes:
A great, noisy and activated group of SMART supporters, as well as a good number of supporters from CAUTION another group that focuses on parts of Charlotte further north, were there at City Council for everyone in South East, North and West Charlotte. Two SMART supporters spoke during the discussion about the Baseball Stadium. (We were not allowed to talk during the Budget part) As one of those speakers, I noted that two wrongs don’t make a right! The city is broke and needs to get its debt and spending under control first.
“Frankly it is easier for us in the South to watch Baseball in Fort Mill,” I explained to council. “For too long the Center City has taken from the South given to the center city money pit and then neglected the East, North and West … Because of this, we have had enough!” And I stated that we were presenting charters and announcing the formation of the Model Town of Providence and an independent school district on Thursday at Raintree CC. I invited city council to attend if desired. The impact was noticeable, but no comments came from the Council.
On the Baseball Stadium, believe it or not 4 Democrats voted against but our two RINO Republicans voted for the stadium after voting against the Budget. Go figure, but that is for another day! If you think the Budget battle is over — think again! Activism works and must continue, for it is the only thing that stops these people. For once, Foxx got slammed and acted like a spoiled brat. You gotta love it! Thursday 6PM at Raintree will definitely be a hoot. Be there please! And, bring an American Flag–after all it is also FLAG DAY!
