FreedomWorks Endorses Greg Brannon in Senate Primary
On Tuesday, February 4, Matt Kibbe, the President and CEO of FreedomWorks, joined a crowd of supporters in Raleigh to announce the SuperPac’s endorsement of Dr. Greg Brannon for United States Senate.
According to Kibbe, “Greg Brannon is a solutions-oriented leader with a stellar understanding of the constitutional role of government. He knows that North Carolinians – not some faceless bureaucrats in Washington – know what’s best for themselves and their families. Greg Brannon will be critical part of the Republican Senate takeover in 2014, and a welcome member of the Freedom Caucus within the new majority.”
In response, Brannon commented, “It’s an honor to receive the support of such an incredible organization. FreedomWorks has solid record of working to elect conservatives and they’ve been on the front lines in the fight for smaller government. I’m grateful for their endorsement and I look forward to fighting alongside these great champions of freedom.”
The endorsement hasn’t been without controversy. Supporters of other candidates in the GOP Primary are crying foul, suggesting it is too early to endorse, or that outside organizations shouldn’t have a voice in North Carolina politics. To this blogger, it all sounds like sour grapes.
The following video from the event contains the statements by both Kibbe and Brannon.
