Kay Hagan Demands Corrupt, Unchecked Pigford Settlements Resume
Senator Kay Hagan has sent a letter to President Barack Hussein Obama demanding that the payment of Pigford Settlements start again. What is the Pigford Settlement? It was a plan to pay approximately 1,000 to 4,000 black farmers who had been discriminated against by the Department of Agriculture. At the time of the settlement there were only 33,000 black farmers in the United States.
To date 94,000 claims have been filed and nearly $1.2 billion paid out in checks of $50,000 each to a number of those filing claims. The first problem is that the numbers don’t jive (i.e. 4,000/33,000/94,000). The second problem is that investigations have shown that single black women living in projects and more have been the recipients of money from this settlement. Only after these things were revealed by private investigations, did the government quietly put a temporary stop to the payments. And now Senator Kay Hagan wants them to go forward without any questions. More of the story is available here…
