Roberts Strikes Again
The Ruling Class Elite is going to raise your property taxes in a big way folks. Jennifer Roberts is going to stick it to you once again for the sake of all our helpless children who will perish unless even more of your money is forcibly removed from your wallet and used for their ” education”.
If Harold Cogdell goes along, the property tax increase is a done deal. Charlotte residents (Charlottean’s constitute 85% of the Mecklenburg County population) are already the highest taxed citizens in North Carolina by a huge margin. Citizens of Charlotte paid a staggering $2587 in local taxes and fees in 2008 (most recent available statistics), the median local tax burden for a North Carolinian was $1330.
We’ve had the dubious distinction of being the highest taxed city for 9 consecutive years, during which time that great conservative, Patrick McCrory, so forcefully governed our city as Mayor – but I digress.
Anyway, despite the fact that swiping even more of your money to fund ” education” in CMS won’t improve student achievement one iota, Jennifer will continue to push the RCE agenda.
You see, she and the rest of her motly gang are on a mission. They are always on the attack. They believe they know best, and by God, they are going to rule their way. It’s called passion and focus, and it works.
Last fall 9 individuals claiming to be Republicans opposed the Democrats in the last election. Rather than running as a slate with a clearly defined set of governing principles to present to the community, as per usual there were 9 separate campaigns with no real coordination, no unified message to the community.
Rob Bryan couldn’t, or wouldn’t, try to unite the ticket. It was obvious to anyone who was halfway paying attention that Roberts would raise property taxes to compensate for state education budget cuts if she retained a majority. Rather than force her to take a stand on taxes during the campaign the GOP let her off the hook. Predictably the Dems won.
I think Scott Babbidge has the passion and skill to turn this pathetic situation around. Lord knows, he can’t do any worse.
