Picking Winners As Per Usual

|

The Ruling Class Elite strikes again. What with the NAACP screaming that Charlotte is a “racist bastion” our masters just had to do something, so they’ve decided to take $55 million and lavish it on some black children unfortunate enough to be stuck in our pathetic public school system.

Can’t have the rest of the country thinking Charlotte is anything but the progressive, cosmopolitan, diverse, utopia, the RCE has been so happily constructing with your money all these years, might cost Charlotte the Democratic Convention in 2012. So the RCE will swoop down and pick some poor, black, children and make them successful so everyone will know who much the RCE loves their subjects!

The $55 million is being “donated” by the usual RCE suspects – the major corporations, the foundations, etc. The stockholders and customers of those companies are  actually the ones coughing up the money/tax, but as always, the credit will go to the generous executives of those organizations who are publicliy displaying such kindness and concern for those less fortunate than themselves.

Actually, there are some hopeful signs amidst all the usual effluent. Anna Spangler, billionaire heiress to the Spangler empire, has averred that charter school methods such as those used by KIPP ( Knowledge is Power Program), which have resulted in great academic achievement nationally for poor, black, children, should be promoted and adopted systemwide in this latest RCE initiative.

I must confess I gave myself a pat on the back upon reading Spangler’s comments in the CO this morning. When I ran against Lassiter in the GOP Mayoral Primary in 2009 I talked about KIPP extensively, and made it very clear that if elected I would try to persuade the state to lift the cap on charter schools and implement the KIPP model systemwide.

Of course, the CO editorial board reported this idea was impractical and dismissed me as an ideologue. You see in this mill town we live in, a nonmember of the RCE is genetically incapable of intelligent thought. If you are impertinent enough to express an idea publicly it must be immediately dismissed, wheras if you happen to be the RCE daughter of a billionaire, you’re musings are front page news because they are intrinisically of the most critical importance for the future of this community.

The KIPP model is not in the least bit revolutionary. Basically, children in the program are disciplined and motivated to do schoolwork by the adults responsibile for their education. The program is paternalistic and needs to be.

Even though Mayor Foxx, Harvey Gantt, Mel Watt, Pat Cannon, Vilma Leake, James Mitchell, George Dunlap, or any other black leader in this community would never admit it, the single biggest problem facing black children is the fact over 70% are born out of wedlock.

The most important teachers children ever have are parents. The lack of male parenting in the black community is the single largest culprit when assigning blame to the poor academic performance of black children.

It certainly remains to be seen if society can effectively replace parents in successfully raising black children, but the RCE’s are going to give it a shot. With your money of course. They never, ever, launch any of their schemes with their own funds. That’s how they got so rich in the first place.
