Who Benefits From FDA Censorship?

|

Like most Federal Government organizations, the FDA has gotten a little too big for its britches, ignoring the fact that Federal power is limited by the 10th Amendment in the United States Constitution, which states “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

The FDA also now finds itself in conflict of our First Amendment Freedom of Speech by prohibiting food producers from labeling their foods as being free of genetic modification. The agency also denies producers the right to use the terms “Hormone Free” and foods labeled with a red circle with a line through it and the words “GMO”, saying this implies there is something wrong with genetically engineered foods.

Whether you agree that eating these foods are healthy or not, these labeling laws make it impossible for consumers to choose to eat them or not.  Our “Free Market” society cannot function when choices are taken away from consumers.

In attempt to restore the rights of North Carolina citizens to choose what foods are best for them, North Carolina District 49 Representative Glen Bradley has drafted HOUSE BILL 446: Labeling Requirements/GMFs & rBGH in Food.  It states, “This is an act to require labeling of food and milk products sold in this state that are or that contain genetically modified food and or milk and milk products from animals that have received recombinant bovine growth hormone (RBGH).” The text of this bill can be read here.

Kudos to Representative Bradley for honoring his oath to defend the Constitution, for taking a stand against Federal Government encroachment, and for standing up for the citizens of North Carolinas right to choose!

Now is a good time to call your State Representative and ask them to support this bill saying no to the Nanny State encroachment of the Federal government and yes to North Carolina’s Sovereignty and your freedom to choose.

You can find your representative here and their contact information on the subsequent links.
