President Obama on Ferraro’s Passing

|

In a post on the White House Blog titled, “President Obama on the Passing of Geraldine Ferraro,” the President states, “Geraldine fought to uphold America’s founding ideals of equality, justice, and opportunity for all.”

Does the President not know that America’s primary founding ideal is Liberty? Justice and political equality are the means to protect a citizen’s Liberty. Justice and political equality are the means to protect a citizen’s creating opportunity for himself or herself.

Some people may take the President’s words to mean “economic equality, fairness, and provision of opportunity by others.” Whether that interpretation is intended, or is merely a possibility, it is an interpretation that contradicts our actual founding ideals, and fails to honor the meaning of our founding ideals.
