Huntersville Town Board Bucks Obamacare

|

The Huntersville Town Board on Monday night approved two binding resolutions that request the State of North Carolina to intercede on behalf of citizens and take proactive action to prevent the implementation of the recently passed healthcare legislation.

The resolutions, introduced by Republican Commissioner Charles Jeter, were approved by a 3-2 vote, with commissioners Ken Lucas and Danae Caulfield, both Republicans, voting in support. Commissioners Sarah McAulay, a Democrat, and Ron Julian, a Republican, voted in dissent.

Huntersville becomes one of the first local municipalities to approve binding resolutions seeking state action to quash what has become roundly known as Obamacare. North Carolina’s attorney general, meanwhile, has yet to step up to the plate to help fight for the rights of both the Tar Heel state and its citizens.

To date, attorney generals from 14 states have filed complaints in court charging the new healthcare legislation exceeds Congress’s constitutional powers and imposes an unconstitutional direct tax. The states include South Carolina, Nebraska, Texas, Utah, Louisiana, Alabama, Michigan, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Washington, Idaho, and South Dakota.
