Meck Dec Celebrated with Statue Unveiling

 

On May 20, 2010, the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence (the first in the colonies) was celebrated with the unveiling of a statue called “The Spirit of Mecklenburg,” which captures Captain Jack Johnson’s ride to deliver the Meck Dec to the Continental Congress in Philadelphia.
