The Hypocrisy of Brad and Britt
It amused me today when Brad and Britt, the latest drive time hosts on Charlotte’s 1110AM WBT, started talking about how they don’t buy lottery tickets until the jackpot reaches X amount.
Why is that amusing? Because on yesterday’s show they were saying no investor would ever withhold their capital from investment if capital gains taxes were increased. In other words, the amount of return on one’s risk doesn’t matter.
Huh?
If a chance at a $30 million jackpot isn’t enough “return” on your $2 investment, but a $100 million jackpot is, there’s no difference in that versus an investor who withholds his money at a higher tax rate versus a lower one. In BOTH cases the logic is the same; the investor makes the EXACT SAME decision. That being, is the difference in potential return worth the same amount of invested risk?
Of course the answer in both cases is, “Yes.”
But Brad and Britt are not only buffoons. They’re also hypocrites.
