Charlotte Bastiat Society Off and Running

|

The Charlotte chapter of the Bastiat Society held their monthly meeting last Thursday. Those who braved the wind and rain were fortunate to hear Dr. David Hart of Liberty Fund give a lecture on Frederic Bastiat and the Free Trade movement in 19th Century France. If you’ve ever wanted to know more about Frederic Bastiat, Dr. Hart is one of the leading Bastiat historians in the country.

Dr. Hart is currently the Director of the Online Library of Liberty (OLL) which is a project of Liberty Fund – a fantastic resource for anyone interested or involved in the liberty movement. He is also the Academic Editor of Bastiat’s Collected Works, a 6-volume set, and two attendees were lucky enough to receive a free copy of Volume 1 and Volume 2 after correctly answering some Bastiat trivia. You can visit Dr. Hart’s personal website for more information.

If you would like to sign up to receive meeting updates and other information about the Charlotte chapter of the Bastiat Society, please send an email to charlotte@bastiatsociety.com and follow them on twitter – @BastiatCLT. The next meeting is scheduled for February 20, with new location to be determined.

Below is Dr. Hart’s presentation.
