On Thursday, January 17th, the Lake Norman Transportation Commission (LNTC) met in Mooresville to discuss the group’s future plans, how to remain relevant, and hear presentations on the impacts of growth in the LKN Area. (See below for video of the meeting, courtesy of Jay Privette.) Attendees including elected officials, staff, and other interested parties talked […]

It’s not often a technology comes along that truly changes the course of human history. Usually when we’re told “THIS” will change our lives it’s a sales pitch or someone hyping some gadget we don’t really need. In my opinion, for example, the iPhone (and just about everything else with an “i” in front if […]

The Charlotte chapter of the Bastiat Society held their monthly meeting last Thursday. Those who braved the wind and rain were fortunate to hear Dr. David Hart of Liberty Fund give a lecture on Frederic Bastiat and the Free Trade movement in 19th Century France. Just when you thought Mecklenburg County’s flawed 2011 property tax revaluation Big Heist couldn’t possibly get any more criminally incompetent and professionally bungled, we learn that yet another shoe might be about to drop. It starts with an email that Commissioner Karen Bentley received from a constituent expressing concern over the county’s recently hired new […]

The left is going after big money in politics now in a big way. Actually, it is trying to delegitimize the funding by free market heroes such as Charles and David Koch while sanitizing its own. One of the problems with the left critique, however, is that there isn’t too much money, big or otherwise, […]

After reading the 23 ‘gun control’ executive orders the President signed this week (see full list below) many gun owners will think, “Well, that’s not so bad,” or, “It could’ve been worse.” I disagree. This is exactly the “tyrannical, all-out assault on liberty” Obama claimed he was not guilty of in his speech today. Putting aside any […]
