At-Large Poll Results
While an open poll conducted on a website two months before an election may not have any scientific standing to validate its results, it can provide some insight into the early organizational success of the several candidates running.
This week’s poll asked responders to indicate their three choices in the Republican primary for Mecklenburg County Commission At-Large.
The results are as follows:
Corey Thompson – 82 votes
Charles Jeter – 46 votes
Jim Pendergraph – 28 votes
Dan Ramirez – 28 votes
Tim McLeod – 14 votes
Larry Shannon – 14 votes
Darryl Broome – 5 votes
Each candidate was notified of this poll the day before it went online in an effort to make the competition as fair as possible. (The exception was Darryl Broome who provided no email or phone number on the Mecklenburg Board of Elections website.)
There were 126 voters casting a total of 217 votes. Had each voter chosen their top three candidates, there would have been 378 votes. Therefore, a number of voters selected only one or perhaps two choices. Whether that was strategy designed by the campaigns or simply an indication that many responders had yet to determine their full slate of support remains to be seen.
Our next poll will be available on Monday morning.
Thanks for voting.
