CAUTION will host an open discussion on our 2nd Amendment – “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
In addition, they’ll have a review of the outcome of the run-off primary from Tuesday and Dennis Peterson has a special announcement!

Monday, July 23, 6:30-9:00pm – Campaign for Liberty

Please join the Mecklenburg County Campaign for Liberty for our July monthly meeting.
This month we will welcome back the newly-nominated Republican candidate for Mecklenburg County Commissioner, District 5, Matthew Ridenhour. Matthew will join us to discuss his just-completed primary campaign for the District 5 seat, highlighting what strategies worked, which didn’t, and contrasting that experience with his earlier 2009 City Council campaign. Many of our members volunteered for Matthew’s campaign, and their contributions will be welcome also. We’ll discuss how these lessons can be applied to future grassroots campaigns, and what will be required for the District 5 campaign in the general election.

We will be welcoming NC House Speaker Thom Tillis for an evening of discussion and celebration on the recent successful session of the NC Legislature. As always we will be meeting at Dilworth Neighborhood Grill in uptown Charlotte.

Wednesday, July 25, 7:00-9:00pm – Mecklenburg Libertarian Party
The next meeting of the Mecklenburg Libertarian Party will be this Wednesday beginning at 7:00pm at the Fox and Hound Restaurant located at 330 North Tryon Street in Charlotte.  They will recap the successful visit of Libertarian Presidential Candidate Gary Johnson to Charlotte as well as discussing upcoming strategy for local and statewide Libertarian candidates.  Contact chair@lpmeck.org for more information.

Thursday, July 26, 6:30-8:00pm – South Mecklenburg Republican Club
This month, State Representatives Ric Killian and Bill Brawley will discuss the accomplishments of the 2012 NC legislative session, and look forward to what we would like to see from next year’s General Assembly.  UPDATE: The July meeting is moving to the meeting room at Big View Diner,  on the corner of Johnston and Ardrey Kell Roads.   Map  link.

Legislative Update

A note from Jim DeMint on current Senate Legislation:
34 Senators now oppose LOST (Law of the Sea Treaty). 4 additional Senators have now joined in oppostion to this harmful treaty. Lost will not be ratified by the Senate this year. Thanks to all the people who contacted our Senators to stop this! Your voices are being heard.

Promises Made, Promises Kept?

As we continue to look back over the the promises made by President Obama, there seems to be no end in sight to those that have been violated.
This weeks:

“No money from lobbyists”

In June 2008, presidential candidate Barack Obama declared that his campaign would “not take a dime from Washington lobbyists.” Obama and his deputies have repeated that promise many times since then.
