GOP Headed Down Dangerous Path

|

My dad is fond of saying, “If you’re not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to hide.”

According to clause 3 of Article I, section 9 of the U.S. Constitution, and clause 1 of Article I, section 10, of the same, he’s right.

However, John Adams warned us in 1798, “Avarice, ambition, revenge and licentiousness would break the strongest cords of our Constitution, as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

John Adams too was, and remains today, correct.

As much as we have endured the lawlessness (up to and including the murder of Brian Terry), corruption (John Corzine is still a free man, you know) and utter disdain for our constitution and the Rule of Law at the hands of the Obama administration, we have this week witnessed a glimpse of the damage a Romney administration would do to the same.

Not satisfied with the direction of their convention, in mid-stream the RNC blatantly and openly broke its own rules by refusing to seat the delegates from Maine, who ultimately stormed out of the convention on Tuesday.  Additionally, in an effort to quash future ‘rebellion’ by true conservatives the committee pushed through two controversial rule changes via an unannounced floor “voice” vote. The outcome of which was anything but decisive; despite that lying sack of shit John Boehner.  When opponents tried to submit their appeal through the appropriate procedure, the committee flat-out refused to accept their paperwork.  For any observer it was nothing short of a disgusting display of arrogance, tyranny, disdain and rejection of anyone unwilling to tow the Establishment line.

In short, the GOP has moved from nominating candidates based on the will of the people, to anointing their chosen king.  No wonder people are already calling Mittens by his latest nickname: Obomney.

Some, who know I have supported Ron Paul, might say I’m only full of sour grapes or a sore loser.  The fact is, Romney was going to win the nomination anyway.  So why would the RNC go to such lengths?  What are THEY trying to hide?

Perhaps it was their embarrassment of the fact they know people are dissatisfied with a decades-long parade of ineffectiveness and criminality within their own ranks (Nixon, Ford, Bush, Dole, Bush Lite, McCain, Romney).  Or maybe they can’t stand that true conservatives – despite being sickened by the likes of Obama – are increasingly no longer willing to be placated by voting for the lesser evil?

Where the hell is Barry Goldwater when we need him most?

I recently read a new slogan making its way around the Internet: “Defeat the Democrats on November 6; Defeat the Establishment beginning November 7!”

With the changes this Tuesday to RNC Rules 15 and 16, and the GOP’s now blatantly obvious willingness to bend, break, and flat-out ignore their own rules, even with a Romney victory on November 6, we have no chance of defeating the Establishment in a battle fought among town halls, voting booths, courtrooms, and public opinion.  For whenever it comes to pass that whatever it is you’re doing can be deemed wrong on-the-fly by those in power – there is no place to hide.

We are now on a very dangerous path that only leads to tyranny, misery, and ultimately war.

Sorry, Dad. I didn’t leave the GOP, they left me.  God help us.
