Big Changes Coming to PunditHouse
Since launching in March of this year, PunditHouse.com has steadily gained a following among local Conservative leaders and activists. We thank each and every one of our House Guests columnists and commentators for their contributions to the PunditHouse community. Those of you who have taken the time to write a letter to the editor, comment on stories, and even just “fan” us on Facebook are greatly appreciated.
Our goal is to continue to evolve as a forum for local politics, both in terms of news coverage and encouraging the kind of activism that will actually make a positive difference in our little section of America.
We have been hard at work over the last month making some changes to our website that we hope will serve to make the end user experience even more rewarding and interactive.
Coming this weekend, these changes will be put into effect on the live version of the site.
In addition to “cleaning up” some of the backend code to help the site run faster, we are adding a few features that we hope you will enjoy.
Some highlights:
The biggest feature change will be the addition of the “Be a Pundit” section. No longer will you have to send a letter to the editor or guest post to us via email. The “Be a Pundit” section will allow you to write and submit your post directly into our House Mail section, all without having to register an account with us. You have something to say, and we want to hear it.
The new post pages of the site will be redesigned into a three column format. The story will appear down the middle with a font that is much easier to read.
To the left of the posts, we will highlight the top commentors…showcasing the five most active contributors to the discussions we are trying to encourage on PunditHouse. Get to know these folks and engage with them. They are likely to respond to you.
Also in this section will be the most recent posts submitted in our new “Be a Pundit” section. We want to showcase the contributions made by our readers.
We will also become even more Facebook friendly with the addition of the familiar “like” button at the bottom of each post. You will be able to see who among your friends has also “liked” the story and be able to carry on those “water cooler” discussions knowing who has already seen the same piece you have.
That’s just the beginning, but as you can see, our goal is encourage even more participation in as many ways as we can.
Heck, we’ve even fixed the “print” button so that you can print a story to share with your friends without all the sidebar pictures and unnecesarily ink draining non-essentials.
We look forward to unveiling these changes over the weekend.
Please let us know what you think, and if there is anything that you would like to see as a feature that we may have missed, please let us know that as well. If it can be done, we’ll certainly give it a shot.
Thanks again to everyone, and remember to work hard for good candidates in this year’s elections. We would love some positive news to report on!
