Water As A Weapon
Gang of thieves writ large: The City of Rock Hill will shut off the water to over 100 homes on Monday because the homeowners don’t want to be annexed. These people already pay for the water they’re getting, and pay twice as much as city residents already. A majority of the Rock Hill City Council says they are sympathetic to the homeowners, but cannot legally intervene.
What the hell good is electing representatives if they can’t even keep their own staff from cutting off the water to residents whose water bills are in good standing? It sounds to me like that makes the voter a serf, not a citizen.
UPDATE: Rock Hill officials appear to be backing down in their water war, at least for now.
