The Progressive Double Standard
Ms. Fannie Flono of the uptown paper goes off on the Boy Scouts for not abiding her desire to include avowed homosexuals. As an Eagle Scout and as a past adult Assistant Scout Master, I would like to disagree with Ms. Flono and to task her with taking the mote from her own eye before casting aspersions on others.
The Boy Scouts of America is a private organization which may decide who and who may not be a member. Further, adults, for instance, are subject to background checks and there are specific rules about behavior and fraternization whose intent are to protect the children. Ms. Flono would change those rules to suit herself, ignoring the reasons for them, citing only those who agree with her. How typical of the liberal mind.
Let me then cite the Charlotte Observer’s unmitigated gall in not allowing a fiscal or social conservative on their editorial staff. Where is Ms. Flono’s desire for diversity in this case? There are many qualified writers who are announced conservatives who could fill one of those positions. The Observer and their readership might be enlightened by the pronouncements of a local conservative, but the Observer, a PUBLICLY Owned entity I might add, proceeds to deny this diversity in their editorial offices.
How then does Ms. Flono rationalize her advocacy of what a private organization does when the Public Company she works with is so close minded: About which she says nothing.
Let me be clear. Ms. Flono reminds us all that the Liberal mantra is intolerance of those who do not join in the Liberal causes. Thus she and her ilk can chastise the Boy Scouts while at the same time doing what they pretend to abhor in their own arena.
