Less than 48 hours after one of Mayor Anthony Foxx’s campaign boosters released the results of a sexual harassment investigation the city paid for her to conduct, questions abound regarding a key element of its findings. Specifically, why was former mayor Pat McCrory not interviewed as part of the investigation into allegations that Councilmember Warren Turner sexually harassed city staff?

Seems we’re not the only ones wondering. Jeff Taylor runs down a few possible reasons over on the MeckDeck, while the uptown paper of record reports city attorney Mac McCarley saying that McCrory was “walled off” from the investigation because he is employed by Moore & Van Allen, the same law firm where the investigator hired by the city, attorney Valecia McDowell, works.

The paper also informs that the N.C. Department of Correction, which employs Turner as a probation officer, has refused its request to release a list of probationers whom Turner has supervised.

Meanwhile, WBTV snagged an interview with Turner, in which the councilmember again denies the sexual harassment allegations and says the investigation is part of a campaign to smear his name.
