Brain Freeze
Gotta love the hed of this article from Reuters: “Obama freezes bonuses for some government workers.”
Almost makes it sound like the Chosen One has heard Main Street concerns over exorbitant government pay, while private-sector unemployment rages. Turns out, not so much; Obama remains as tone-deaf as ever to the common folk.
His idea of federal belt-tightening? That would be ordering a freeze on bonuses doled out to scads of political appointees littered throughout the federal government, and contemplating a salary freeze for the same.
“At a time when so many American families are struggling to make ends meet,” Obama said, “I am committed to making sure the federal government is spending the taxpayers’ money wisely and carefully, and cutting costs wherever possible.”
By freezing bonuses for political appointees? Seriously? While the U.S. budget deficit explodes toward a record $1.47 trillion this year? Wonderful.
