More Storm Clouds At CMPD
As if the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department hasn’t already found itself mired in myriad controversies and concerns during the tumultuous tenure of Chief Rodney Monroe, there’s more potential trouble brewing on the horizon.
Investigative blogger and professional agitator Cedar Posts roots out the latest swirl surrounding CMPD, this one involving Monroe cohort Vicki Foster, who has been tapped for the position of deputy chief.
At the center of the controversy is Foster’s apparent involvement with a business called MVP Protective Services LLC, which could run afoul of the department’s directives concerning secondary employment. Then there’s Foster’s spotty record of paying property taxes.
Per usual, Monroe’s official line remains ‘nothing to see here, move along.’ Toss in the same sentiment flowing from Mayor Anthony Foxx, and this is shaping up as one to follow. More details and some back-story available here and here.
