South Of The Border
This one is particularly sweet. It wasn’t so long ago that I had the pleasure of editing the random musings of Mick Mulvaney, back when he was a regular contributing columnist for The Rhino Times in Charlotte. He was an anti-big government, pro-free market renegade then and he still is today, only now he’s got a fancy new title to go with it.
Mulvaney, a one-term Republican state senator from South Carolina, last night ousted entrenched, multi-term Democrat incumbent and House Budget Chairman John Spratt, to win the US House District 5 seat by an impressive 55 to 45 percent margin.
In other positive news from the Palmetto State, Republican and tea party favorite Nikki Haley became the state’s first female governor, capturing 52 percent of the vote and beating Democrat state Sen. Vincent Sheheen.
