Deficit Dove
How’s this for a twist: Food police cheerleader and alleged Republican Sen. Richard Burr votes for a so-called compromise tax deal, which will pile $858 billion onto the national debt, while Sen. Kay Hagan, a Democrat, votes against it. This from the Raleigh N&O:
“It is time for Congress to tighten its belt, like American families must do daily,” Hagan said. “Every year Democrats and Republicans make empty promises about bringing down our deficit, and it’s time we started putting our money where our mouth is.”
Sure, it’s largely political pandering and sophistry; but when Kay Hagan comes out looking like a deficit hawk, you know there’s something seriously wrong with the deal.
