The only commodity that might be worth less than the US dollar by year’s end is a Panthers PSL, given the team’s brutal schedule for the upcoming season.

The potential for true ugliness starts with a home-opener against Green Bay, followed by a stretch versus a string of playoff teams from last year (Chicago, New Orleans, Atlanta). Overall, the Panthers’ scheduled opponents combined last year for the highest win percentage in the NFL. The Cats can’t even catch a break against some of the lowly teams lined up on the sked: three consecutive home tilts against teams that didn’t qualify for the playoffs last year – Washington, Minnesota, Tennessee. The Panthers are just 7-14 against the trio.

Over/Under for wins? I’ll start it at a homerly optimistic five. Anyone?
