A little bit of perspective on the uptown paper’s gushing headline: Six-figure salaries thinning at CMS
While the number of educrats pocketing $100,000 or more has shrunk from last year’s total of 104 to this year’s number of 85, let’s take a collective breath of reality and recall that last year’s number represents years of obscene obesity stretching the Ed Shed waistline under the watchful eye of change-agent Superintendent Peter Gorman.
When Gorman took the helm there were all of about 50 folks at CMS making $100,000 or more a year. Gorman quickly ballooned that number to 74 in 2007, and kept feeding the beast until the scale topped 100.
In other words, the “thinning” down to 85 folks making more than $100K still leaves CMS bloated by more than two-dozen positions pocketing six-figure salaries then when Gorman arrived on scene.
Charlie Sheen has his “winning.” Pete Gorman has his “thinning.” Both are laughing all the way to the bank.
