Werewolves of London
Former city councilmember and well-connected about-towner Lynn Wheeler is reporting on her Facebook page that Char-Meck’s moneyed and political elites will be jet-setting across the pond to London for the 2012 Chamber Inter City Visit.
Haven’t been able to confirm it yet; if true, chalk it up as one of the truly tone-deaf, bone-headed moves in recent memory. Think about it when you get your tax bill in the mail and you start bleeding from the eyeballs.
The annual Inter City Visits are little more than junketeering boondoggles when they stick within our borders. Flying to London – which last I heard was teetering on the brink of (take your pick) financial disaster, civil collapse, Socialist overthrow – for tips on how to improve local economic development and government, is just flat nuts. Or in other words, about what you’d expect from the Queen City’s uptown lunch bunch.
