GOP SlogFest Lurches Onward

|

Does Washed-out Wednesday follow Super Tuesday? I don’t know. I do know that as I had previously sensed, yesterday’s elections were a split decision. Newt Gingrich won Georgia handily; Rick Santorum grabbed Tennessee, North Dakota and Oklahoma; Mitt Romney picked up Alaska, Idaho, Massachusetts, Ohio, Vermont and Virginia; while Ron Paul is said to be polling well on his home planet.

Gingrich will now launch a Southern strategy as he targets Mississippi and Alabama, while Santorum will also be a big factor with Evenaglical Christians down South and social conservatives in  Kansas. A few things to consider here. Romney’s organization and big money have proven to be effective in places, but it has been his relentless nuclear negative attacks on fellow Republicans that have given him the miniscule wins he’s notched in places like Michigan and Ohio. He has yet to offer anything even remotely positive. The results show that Romney does not do well with working people. He is, as Charles Krauthammer described him, a very weak frontrunner. Is it possible to win in November with a weak Republican?
