Romney Picks Up 20 Delegates In Puerto Rico
Mitt Romney scored a big win in Puerto Rico, picking up more than 80 percent of the vote and grabbing all of the 20 delegates up for grabs. Romney told the people of Puerto Rico that if they wanted to become the fifty-first state, he would support that effort. But then again so did Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich. None of the candidates ever broached the subject of the possible cost that could some with statehood for Puerto Rico.
Why would any of the candidates campaign in a place where nobody can vote in the general election? Simple. They are actually campaigning for the sizeable Puerto Rican vote on the mainland, especially Florida and North Carolina which will both be real players in November. Tomorrow the circus heads to Illinois. The land of Lincoln allows everyone to vote in the primary. Republicans and Independents and even Democrats can cast ballots.
It would be kind of amusing, in a twisted way, if the current occupier of the oval office pulled a Republican ballot to help choose his opponent in November’s election. Wonder who he’d pick?
