Shock And Awe For Charlotte

|

How’s this for synergy in action: this week the city rolls out a tax-hike budget; next week the city rolls out a new fleet of electric cars and charging stations. Shocking, right – but not to worry. The electric cars venture is being funded with support from a grant through the Department of Energy; so relax, it’s free money from Uncle Sammy. Just charge it and let your kids and grandkids deal with the debt.

The newest toys for the uptown lunch bunch make their debut next Monday at the Government Center, where Mayor Anthony Foxx and Center City Partners syndicate boss CEO Michael Smith will be on hand to pose for cameras and take a test drive. The city’s getting eight electric vehicles and installing 26 charging stations for public use at seven locations throughout Charlotte. I honestly can’t recall how much the cars and charging stations cost. But, free money.
