CMS PR Ahead Of Budget Curve

|

If there was ever any question about whether the school board would pass the district’s proposed $1.2 billion-plus budget buster tonight, question no more. CMS’ platinum-plated PR department has sent word from on high that it’s already a done deal. This from a media release distributed yesterday:

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education meeting (Government Center, Meeting Chamber) 6 p.m. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education will hold its regular meeting, at which they will approve the 2012-2013 Budget Request and the 2013-2014 Academic Calendar

“…at which they will approve.” That’d be hilarious if it weren’t so tragic. In any case, apparently the proposed budget, which includes a 2.3-percent spending splurge and an ask of $27.5 million of additional funding from the county, is signed, sealed, and delivered.

Thanks for playing along and pretending, at least for a few weeks, that board members were actually considering some fiscally responsible alternatives.
