CMS Taps Guy From Reno For Superintendent

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has selected Heath Morrison of Reno, Nevada, to be its new superintendent, officials announced today. The decision came on the heels of news earlier in the morning that one of the three other finalists for the job – Memphis Superintendent Kriner Cash – had abruptly withdrawn from the running.

Contract negotiations with Morrison are currently under way, according to district officials, and the school board is slated to formally vote on Morrison’s selection at its April 24 meeting.

“We had three very talented individuals in the list of finalists. All of them had unique strengths and areas of expertise,” school board chairman Ericka Ellis-Stewart said in a statement released by CMS. “But we believe that Dr. Morrison is the right leader for CMS now. He brings energy and experience to the many challenges facing our district, as well as a strong commitment to excellence and achievement.”

Which sounds exactly like the statement CMS released when it hired Pete Gorman. And look how great that ended.

Over/under on the paycheck CMS will offer Morrison: $250K. Any takers?
