End Game Should Be Justice In Zimmerman Case

|

The special prosecutor has now charged George Zimmerman in the killing of Trayvon Martin and  while it is going to be a fascinating legal and public relations adventure,  I don’t know if we’ll ever know the truth. Many have spoken of justice for Trayvon, which is an admirable goal; but there must be some consideration of justice for Zimmerman too. None of us knows what happened that night in Sanford, Florida, and society’s desire to learn the truth is why we have detectives and prosecutors.

I want to know the facts regarding Zimmerman’s killing of Martin. I’m not the least bit interested in what Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson or Barack Obama think about the case. I would like to hear what the police and prosecutors have learned. I am really curious to know how the prosecutor decided to bring a second-degree murder charge. It would seem, at first blush, to be quite an overreach. Can she prove that Zimmerman had a depraved mind and was motivated by malice, or is she motivated by the circus that is visiting her town?
