Romney Sweeps Up Primary Wins
Mitt Romney went five for five yesterday, running the table with primary victories in Connecticut, Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island, leaving him only a few hundred delegates short of the number he needs to sew up the nomination. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich says he will now realistically reassess his presidential campaign. Good idea since most of us did that reassessment of his campaign a few months ago.
Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, who dropped out of the race a couple of weeks ago, still picked up about 20 percent of the votes in his home state but is now making clear that he will be endorsing Mitt Romney soon. Ron Paul continues to run the same campaign he’s been running all along…nonexistent. The funniest line this morning came from a Paulinista who announced Ron Paul now has the other candidates exactly where he wants them. I wonder if they mail absentee ballots to Mars?
As Romney said last night, it is still about the economy and we’re not stupid. Sure hope he’s right.
