Beating Activist Judges To The Wedding
You didn’t really think you could make it to May 8 without an email blast about Amendment One from Mecklenburg Commissioner Bill James, did you?
The county board is slated tonight to discuss and vote on a proposed resolution opposing the gay marriage amendment. James jumped-started the debate with a pro-amendment missive he distributed over the weekend. To wit (emphasis in original):
Today (April 29, 2012) is ‘Marriage Sunday’ at some 6,000 churches across NC. Today, we celebrate the traditional family of ‘one man – one woman’. Marriage is the basic structure ordained by God. It is the building block of all civilization. From the ‘family’ (a Mom and a Dad) flows generation after generation of people who self-governed themselves according to the precepts of God. Those that followed God’s precepts were successful; those that did not failed.
Some have asked why we need an Amendment when we have a law? Because activist judges (like those in California and New York and Mass) are looking for a way to dump NC’s marriage law under any pretext. just like those that ignored the will of voters in California under Prop 8. NC’s activist judges know that they can overturn existing law but can’t overturn a NC Constitutional Amendment. Why is this coming up now in Mecklenburg as a County Commission issue? Because the Democrats have placed the item on the County Commission agenda for next Tuesday, May 1st, 2012. While I firmly believe that this is a matter for the voters to decide (without a vote of the Commission), since it is on the agenda – those in office are required to stand up and defend what is right (traditional marriage) from what is not.
NC is under assault by liberal factions from across the US out to re-define marriage. They claim that there is ‘no need’ for existing law. A casual read of most major news organizations articles shows how these same liberal factions are busy challenging state and federal laws using activist judges to undermine State law and the traditional family. One the one hand they claim no ‘amendment’ is necessary while on the other, they waltz into a friendly court to try and overturn DOMA (Federal Defense of Marriage Act) and State law. They are duplicitous and most media are willing participants in this deception.
Frankly, elections for Congress, Commission (including my own race) and Council-of-State are of lesser importance than passing Amendment One. Though I want your vote, I want you to support Amendment ONE more.
So, stand up and be counted. Defend what God has ordained and has passed down through the generations to you. Show the generations that have gone before you that you and your family have the steel and grit to oppose those who want to undermine marriage and the family. Defend America.

Vote YES on AMENDMENT ONE and be proud to stand up when your Country and State needed you. Feel free to pass this on and try and get as many people to the polls as you can.
